Students of Secondary School in Ogun State have been charged to shun any form of social vices capable of derailing them in achieving thier life ambition.
The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo gave this charge at the relaunch of Press Club and Inter-School debate competition for Secondary Schools across the State organized by Nigeria Union Journalists, Ogun State Council.
Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo represented by Senior Special Assistance to the on Public Communication, Otunba Dare Odufowokan said the proceeds of social vices and other cyber crime related are momentary urging the students to focus on things that could add value and make them relevant in the society.
He called on the School authorities to complement the effort of Nigeria Union of Journalists by giving necessary guidance to the students while urging the leadership of the Union to continuosly nurture the Press Clubs across the School until it attain full sustainability.
Earlier, while welcoming the Students and other guests the NUJ Chairman Comrade Wale Olanrewaju disclosed that ressucitation of Press Clubs across the Schools had been long over due noting that it was a unique platform to identify young Journalists and nurture them to maturity.
In her remarks, the Chairman Press week planing committee Comrade Yinka Musa-Richard commended the State Government for the valuable supports and the Students for their participation stressing that it would be a thing of joy for Nigeria Union of Journalists to see the seeds being planted through the relaunch of Press Clubs across the Schools in the State germinate.
High point of the event was the donation of 100 Mathematical Sets to the Students present.
