Land owners at Itele area of Ado-odo/Ota local government of Ogun state have assured former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo that they would not encroach on his landed property in the area.
TThis assurance was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by his media aide, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi in Abeokuta today Monday 1st July, 2019. .
The indigenes declared that available records from their parents indicated that the former President legitimately acquired the portion of the land and there was no cause to encroach on it now or in the near future.
In a letter of assurance written by M. A Okandeji, who acted as solicitor to Chief Taorid Dada, the Head of Akapo Dada family of Itele land, hinted that the entire family appreciated the support of Obasanjo in the developmental strides of the town.
The letter, dated June 19, 2019 and signed by Okandeji, Dada, Secretary of the family, Taiwo Falohun, Adelaja Akapo,Wakilu Owotolu and Sulaiman Obabiyi as family members was Obasanjo presented letter to Obasanjo at the weekend.
The duo of Alhaji Bamisebi Taofeek Adeyemi and Alhaji Kazeem Ajiboye who were recently appointed leaders of Itele community facilitated the visit.
Parts of the six paragraph letter read; “Our clients informed us and we very believe them to be true that their great grandfather was the progenitor and first settler in Itele lanBalogun d, who had been on the said land from the time immemorial.
“We were further informed by our clients and we verily believe them that High Chief Matthew Aremu Okikiola Olusegun Obasanjo, the Balogun of entire Owu Kingdom also in occupation of the large verse of land in Itele, Ogun state, which our clients aware of and never for one day stood against the occupation of the said land rather they are proud and happy to associate with Baba Balogun of entire Owuland being chosen to be one of the member of Itele land.
“We are also informed by our clients that the Head of the family, Chief Taorid Akapo and entire member of Akapo family are solidly behind without any iota of doubt the existence and occupation of the land acquired by High Chief Matthew Aremu Okikiola Olusegun Obasanjo; the Balogun of entire Owu Kingdom.
“Our clients also pledging their unflinching support to our esteemed father that their family are willing and ready not to undermine his leadership. Our client has duly informed us that it was resolved at their meeting held recently that the whole families heartedly appreciate your leadership quality and roles being played towards the development and grow of Itele community.
“In view of this foregoing, our client have resolve to always work with you to achieve the common goal of ensuring positive development and growth of their land as well as peaceful co-existence of their people.”
Obasanjo who was represented by Chief Abraham Idowu Akanle thanked the family for deeming it fit to come over to Abeokuta with the assurance letter, declaring that the former President would continue to ensure cordial relationship exists between him and the entire Itele community.
Other members of the extended Akapo family present included Fatai Olorunmo (Ilewo), Raimi Sadiku (Legbede), Sulaiman Muhammed (Idantele), Tunde Salami (Ilegun) and Alh. Lookman Amosun (Isanlu).
