Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, has emphasized the importance of the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme (OGSHIC) for civil servants, stating that a healthy workforce is crucial for productive performance.

Speaking at an awareness talk organized by the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency (OGSHIA) for ministry staff, Hon. Hamzat highlighted the significance of prioritizing health, especially in the current economic climate.

Represented by Permanent Secretary Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, the Commissioner stressed that the scheme is essential for supporting staff well-being and ensuring efficient output.

The Ministry will cover the full package for permanent staff, demonstrating its commitment to their welfare.

Executive Secretary of OGSHIA, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, explained that the scheme provides affordable healthcare services through 305 facilities statewide, including 10 in each Local Government Area and 75 private hospitals. Subscription plans start from N1,000 per month (N12,000 per year) for individuals and N4,000 per year (N48,000 per year) for families.

Dr. Dosunmu emphasized the importance of prompt diagnosis, early screening, and prevention in healthy living, noting that many deaths could have been averted with access to health insurance.

Staff members Sunday Oduntan and Olamide Waston praised the initiative, promising to enhance their job performance.

The Commissioner urged all civil servants to take advantage of the scheme, which offers comprehensive healthcare coverage, including outpatient and inpatient services, surgeries, and maternity care. By prioritizing their health, staff can improve their productivity and overall well-being.

The Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme aims to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare, ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare services. With the scheme, civil servants can enjoy peace of mind, knowing that their health is protected.
