The Ogun State House of Assembly has warned against the alleged collection of unauthorized transportation levy by anyone, especially in Remo North, Ijebu North Local Government Councils and in any other parts of the State.

Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, issued the warning, while responding to the submission of Hon. Solomon Osho under Personal Explanation, who reported the alleged extortion of okada riders by the Chairman, Transition Committee of Remo North Local Government during the plenary held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta

Oluomo noted that he had equally received protest letters from different people on the matter especially from Remo North and Ijebu North Local Government Areas, saying that after the Harmonized Revenue Law had been passed by the State House of Assembly, it was illegal for anyone to introduce any other fee under the guise of revenue collection.

He therefore called on the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape to set machineries in motion to stop the illegal collection of the fee in order not to put unnecessary financial burden on the people of the State.

Also at the plenary , the Ogun State Survey (Amendment) Law, 2020 scaled first reading shortly after the Clerk of the Assembly and Head of Legislative Services, Mr. ‘Deji Adeyemo did the first reading of the bill before the lawmakers.

In another development, Speaker Oluomo has directed the Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Resources, Engr. Kunle Otun to appear before the Committee on Water Resources, Oil and Gas on Thursday, 16th July, 2020 to discuss on the issue of right of way for the Lagos State Water Works at Adiyan- a borderline community between Ogun and Lagos States.

Meanwhile, the Speaker also commiserated with the people of Imasayi, Yewa land and the State on the demise of the Olu of Imasayi, Oba Gbedebo Oni, in response to the presentation of the member representing Yewa North I State Constituency, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, who reported the exit of the frontline monarch, describing him as an asset to Yewaland and the State.
