The Ogun State House of Assembly has called on local government councils to complement the state government’s efforts in rehabilitating and upgrading primary health facilities in rural areas.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide made the call during a plenary session in response to a submission by Hon. Wahab Haruna, representing Yewa North II State Constituency.
Elemide emphasized the need for local governments to contribute to the health needs of rural communities, building on the state government’s earlier efforts to rehabilitate and upgrade health facilities across the state.
He stressed that more needs to be done to ensure that primary health care centers are renovated and equipped, particularly for the benefit of rural dwellers.
Hon. Haruna had requested the state government’s intervention in renovating and upgrading health facilities in his constituency, including Ijoun, Eegua, Igbokofin, Ebute-Igbooro, and Ihunbo, citing the recent outbreak of waterborne diseases and the need for access to quality healthcare facilities.
“The state government has done a lot, but we need the support of local governments to do more”.
“Our people in rural areas deserve quality healthcare, and we must work together to make it happen”, said Elemide
