The Ogun State House of Assembly has urged the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to take immediate action to address the poor condition of several federal roads within the state, with particular emphasis on the Abeokuta-Ibadan road.

This call for action was made by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, during a recent plenary session.

Speaker Elemide highlighted the importance of FERMA, through its Comptroller of Works and local officials, complementing the State Government’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure.

He emphasized the need for essential palliative works on federal roads to facilitate smoother human and vehicular movements across the region.

Expressing his concerns, Elemide remarked that previous palliative efforts by FERMA have proven temporary, as they typically last only a season.

He stressed the necessity for comprehensive repairs on the most severely affected sections of the federal roads, stating, “Extensive works are required for the benefit of both motorists and commuters to ensure their safety and ease of travel.”
