Ogun State House of Assembly has challenged the managements of the Ministry of Information and Strategy as well as all the State owned media to redouble their efforts in propagating government policies and programmes to people.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, threw the challenge, while leading other members appraise the budget performance of the agencies at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Hon. Kaka equally urged the managements of the State owned media stations to strive at improving on their revenue, with the aim of acquring more sophisticated equipment for enhanced productivity.
Earlier in his presentation, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Waheed Adesina, said that the Ministry would consolidate on the use of various strategies in mobilizing the people for positive development.
He disclosed that as at the third quarter, the Ministry had expended over N208m out of the total recurrent expenditure of N468.1m and had generated over 38 percent of the revenue target for the period.
In another development, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, says the Ministry has recorded huge feat in the promotion of the cultural heritage and tourism across the State; thus, it generated over 30 percent of its revenue for the period under review.
This was just as the General Manager, State Television, Tunde Kazeem presented the achievements of the media outfit for the third quarter of 2023 before the lawmakers, noting that Station had generated over N139.8m during the period under review.
Also, the General Manager, State Broadcasting Corporation, Mrs. Toyin Sogbesan pointed out that the radio station received N222.1m as total receipt, out of the total revenue target of N535.9m for the period under review.
Other agencies that had their budget performance appraised included the Ogun State House of Assembly and Bureau of Information Technology amongst others.
