The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, has lauded the role of religious bodies in the promotion of national unity and development, saying their moral teachings have continued to reinforce patriotism and nation building.

This is just as he acknowledged their prayers, which he noted had contributed to the promotion of peace and tranquility in the nation.

Oluomo stated this while receiving the leadership of Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, led by its Supreme Head, His Eminence, Prophet Solomon Adegboyega Alao during a courtesy visit at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Speaker posited that religious leaders of both faiths in their respective capacity must continue to promote the teachings and other inter-religious activities that would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity amongst residents in order to keep the country united.

Commending the administrative style of the church’s leadership for planning its 92nd annual general conference to be held in the State, Oluomo implored the clergy man to continue to offer prayers and advice to the political class, with a view to supporting them to overcome the myriad of challenges confronting the nation, especially as it approached the electioneering period.

Earlier in his presentation, the Supreme Head, Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Prophet Adegboyega Alao, described the legislative arm as the hallmark of democracy, seeking sustained mutual relationship between all arms of government towards achieving national development for more prosperity for all citizenry.

Positing that Nigeria remains a secular nation, with multiple ethnicities and religions, the clergyman stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence, unity and harmony in achieving sustained growth in any developing nation.

He extolled the uniqueness of the State, explaining that there was a need for more prayers to complement all development-focused policies of government at all levels.
