The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide has described sports as a major instrument for creating job opportunities and engaging the youth, which was the reason the State Government initiated a bill for the creation of Sports Development Commission and that of the Sports Development Trust Funds.
Rt. Hon. Elemide disclosed this while playing host to the executive members of the State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) led by Comrade Michael Ogunsiji during a courtesy call on the Speaker at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
He assured the SWAN executive members of government’s commitment to sports development, saying that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration would not relent in giving the best to the teeming youths in the State.
Speaking earlier, Comrade Ogunsiji commended the Speaker for his efforts in the development of sports in the grassroot, stating that SWAN was committed to partnering the Assembly in replicating the same at the State level.
