Ogun Assembly Seeks Stakeholders’ Input on Power Sector Reform Bill

Abeokuta, Ogun State – In a bid to transform the power sector in Ogun State, the State House of Assembly is set to hold a stakeholders’ forum on a new bill aimed at improving electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.

The forum, scheduled for Thursday, 5th September 2024, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, will bring together relevant stakeholders to discuss the proposed “Ogun State Power Sector Law” (Bill No H.B.017/OG/2024).

According to the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, the bill seeks to establish an electricity market, create key power sector bodies, enforce consumer rights and obligations, and integrate rural areas into the electricity grid.

The forum, which will commence at 10:00 am, is expected to harness the inputs of all relevant stakeholders to create a comprehensive bill that will benefit the people of Ogun State.

This move is seen as a significant step towards addressing the power sector challenges in the state and ensuring that residents have access to reliable and efficient electricity supply.
