The Ogun State House of Assembly today passed the Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2019 barely two weeks it was transmitted to the legislative arm by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The passage of the bill was sequel to the presentation of the report of the Committee on Education, Science and Technology by its Chairman, Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, who thereafter moved the motion for its adoption, seconded by his Ewekoro counterpart, Yusuf Amosun and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote at a plenary presided over by Speaker Olakunle Oluomo at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Bill was thereafter read clause- by- clause and adopted before the members, after which the motion for the third reading was moved by the Minority Leader Ganiyu Oyedeji, seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Abdul Oladunjoye, while the Acting Clerk, Mr. Deji Adeyemo did the third reading of the bill.
The Speaker thereafter directed that the clean copy of the bill be forwarded to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his assent.
The amendment partly seeks to revalidate MAPOLY law to ensure the return of smooth academic activities at the institution, with all property of the institution hitherto transfered to MAUSTECH now return to MAPOLY.
Meanwhile, the suspended Local Government Councils and LCDA Chairmen have been directed to appear before the Assembly on Monday, 5th of August, 2019.
The Speaker noted that the Chairmen from Ogun East Senatorial District are expected to be available by 10:00 am, while their counterparts from Ogun West are scheduled for 1.00pm, with those from Ogun Central Senatorial District for 4pm.
