Ogun State House of Assembly today passed four bills including State Legislative Fund Management Law, 2019, Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of Ogun State Law, 2019, the Magistrates’ Court (Amendment ) Law, 2019, and the Customary Courts (Amendment) Law, 2019.
The passage of the bills at a plenary presided over by Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, followed the separate presentation of the Commitee reports by their respective chairmen including Kunle Sobukanla of Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Kemi Oduwole of Investment, Commerce and Industry and Solomon Osho of Justice and Public Petitions.
The chairmen, thereafter moved the motion for the adoption of their respective reports, seconded by Hon Latifat Ajayi, Wahab Haruna, Modupe Mujota and Yusuf Adejojo, respectively and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote; after which the four bills were later read and adopted Clause- by –Clause by the Committee of the Whole House.
The bills are with the long titles: ” HB No 005/OG/2019- A Bill for a Law to to make provision for the House of Assembly Legislative Fund Management and other matters connected therewith”, ” HB No 020/ OG/ 2019- A Bill for a Law to Establish the Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency and for matters connected therewith”. Others are “HB No. 023/ OG/2019- A Bill for a Law to amend the Magistrates’ Courts Law, 2016; HB No. 24/ OG/ 2019- A Bill for a Law to amend the Customary Courts Law,2006”.
Consequently, the motion for the third reading of the bills was later moved by the Majority Leader, Sheriff Yusuf, seconded by Honourables Solomon Osho, Olakunle Sobukola and Oludaisi Elemide respectively, while the Ag. Clerk of the Assembly, ‘Deji Adeyemo, did the third reading of the bills before the lawmakers.
Responding, Speaker Oluomo, who lauded his colleague-lawmakers for a thorough work on the bills, subsequently directed that the clean copies of the four bills be forwarded to the State Governor, Governor Dapo Abiodun for his assent.
In another Development, Speaker Oluomo in commemoration of the lawmaker’s 100 days of the inauguration of the ninth legislature, lauded his colleague lawmakers, management and members of staff of the Assembly for their unalloyed support and mutual understanding which had resulted in the passage of enabling legislations for the socio-economic advancement of the State.
According to Oluomo, who congratulated his colleagues on the revalidation and confirmation of their deserved victory at the tribunal, stated that the successes so far achieved was possible through the existing peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship between members of staff and the lawmakers
