Ogun State House of Assembly says it will support the State Ministry of Environment and other relevant government agencies to ensure effective waste management at the various dumpsites across the State.
The Assembly gave the assurance today when members of the House Committee on Environment led by Hon Wahab Haruna visited the Ministry to appraise its 2019 budget performance.
In his remarks, a member representing Ijebu Ode State Constituency, Hon kemi Oduwole challenged the agency to ensure that the dumpsites, especially along Ijebu-Ode/Ijagun road is cleared as it was taking over the road.
On his part, the Committee chairman encouraged the Ministry to redouble its efforts at promoting safe environment through emission control, efficient waste management and disiltng of drainages.
Speaking earlier, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, TPL Yetunde Dina, said the Ministry had a total of 26 companies at various stages of Environment implication studies as well as visitation to six companies in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Environment on Environmental Impact Assessment (TWO EIS) approval.
She said the State Emergency Management Agency in partnership with the State government had delivered relief materials to flood victims at Opako in adigbe and Ijebu-Ode amongst others within the period under review.
