The Ogun State House of Assembly has invited Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye, Ademola Owoeye, Garba Owoeye, Sina Oladunjoye, and Taoheed Bayo to appear before the lawmakers in connection with an alleged case of forceful occupation of landed properties in Obada-Oko, Ewekoro Local Government Area.

The invitation was announced by Hon. Damilola Soneye, Chairman of the House Committee on Lands and Housing, during a joint committee meeting at the Assembly Complex in Abeokuta.

The lawmakers are investigating an alleged case of forcible occupation of landed properties of 12 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Obada-Oko.

The petitioners, led by Surveyor Bode Adeaga and Barr. Hafiz Ogabi, allege that Mutairu Owoeye and his group have been using threats and violence to take over their landed properties.

Speaker Oludaisi Olusegun Elemide warned security agencies to stop providing cover for land grabbers and urged them to curb the menace, which has been causing tension in communities across the State.

The affected communities, including the Baale Opelifa in Obada Oko, Chief Awopeju Saheed, have accused Mutairu Owoeye and his group of attacks and threats.

The invitees are expected to appear before the lawmakers on July 11, 2024, by 12 noon. Failure to do so will lead to a declaration of wanted status and further appropriate steps by security operatives.
