Following the receipt of petitions on the leadership crisis rocking the Sagamu branch of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, ( NYCN) the Ogun State House of Assembly has waded in with a directive to the State Executive Council to set machineries in motion towards conducting election into leadership positions in the branch within the next 60 days.
The Chairman, House Committee on Youth, Sports and Employment Generation, Hon. Olushola Adams, issued the directive after the meeting with all concerned parties on the Executive Council matters of the NYCN held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.
Hon. Adams, who stated that the Assembly’s directive was in line with Article 11 of the council’s constitution, directed that a management meeting must be convened for the purpose of inauguration of a congress planning committee and electoral committee under the coordination of the State leadership within the 60 -day deadline.
Calling for the strict adherence to electoral rules by the electoral committee, the Chairman sought for the submission of bi-weekly report till election date on the electioneering progress to the Office of the Speaker through the committee.
He thereafter urged all concerned parties and stakeholders to ensure a hitch free and peaceful electoral process, emphasising that the State House of Assembly had intervened to promote peace and tranquility amongst the youth.
