The Ogun State House of Assembly has condemned the repeated invasions by Lagos State Command police officers, who are arresting innocent residents and aiding land grabbers and illegal claimants to chieftaincy stools in the state.
Speaker Oludaisi Elemide denounced the actions, citing vested interests and criminal elements behind the operations.
Elemide pointed out that the illegal operations have continued to affect the security of lives and properties of the people in the state.
He recalled that Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has zero tolerance for land grabbing and other criminal activities, and is committed to ridding the state of criminal elements.
The Speaker called on the State Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice, the Commissioner of Police in the State, and the Commander of the State Amotekun Corps to step up measures by activating all security apparatus to curtail criminal activities in the state.
He also called on the Inspector General of Police to intervene, stating that the state would not submit its sovereignty to any other authorities under any guise.
Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly will hold a public hearing on a bill titled “H.B No. 013/OG/2024 – The Ogun State Consumer Protection Law, 2024” on July 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Speaker urged all invited stakeholders to be seated by 9:30 a.m. The hearing aims to protect consumers’ rights and interests in the state.
