The Ogun State House of Assembly has approved the 2025-2027 State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), paving the way for the preparation of the State Year 2025 Budget.
The approval followed the presentation of the report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation’s Vice Chairman, Hon. Wahab Haruna, and the adoption of the report by the Whole House.
According to Speaker Oludaisi Elemide, “The MTEF report outlines the sectoral allocations for personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures for the state’s different sectors for 2025-2027.”
The lawmakers also engaged Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Olaolu Olabimtan, seeking increased budgetary allocation for education and agriculture sectors to improve food security through mechanized farming.
Hon. Yusuf Amosun emphasized, “Mechanized farming is crucial for food security, and we need to invest more in it.”
Commissioner Olabimtan responded, “We will embark on agro-business and take advantage of its value chain to empower the people.”
The approved MTEF will serve as a guide for the preparation of the State Year 2025 Budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to key sectors.
The Clerk of the House, Sakiru Adebakin, will convey the House Resolution to the concerned authorities, including Commissioner Olabimtan, for implementation.
