Following untold hardship that the unprecedented scarcity of the Naira, fuel scarcity and skyrocketing rise in fuel prices on the masses.
The youths and residents of Ifedara – Opeji Area CDC, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, have been urged to embrace peace even as they show their displeasure and grievances following untold hardship scarcity of naira has brought on the citizens.
The Chairman of the Area Community Development Committee and President Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab made this plea this Tuesday in a statement signed by his Director of Media and Publicity, Adejola Adeyemi Crown, admonishing youths to embrace peace and eschew acts capable of truncating national peace and development, especially as the elections approaches.
Asiwaju Dapo Wahab also urged the youths to avoid breaching the existing peace through any activities that could destabilise the entire country, even as the government is striving to find lasting solution to the current situation.
Recall some residents of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital this Tuesday staged a peaceful protest around Sapon, Panseke, Elega, Abiola Way, Oke Ilewo, Asero, Adatan, Ake, among other areas within the metropolis to register their displeasure over the scarcity of naira notes and fuel ravaging the nation.
He said, “I want to call on our youths to embrace peace, even as they show their grievances and displeasure following untold hardship that the scarcity of naira notes and fuel has brought on them and their businesses”.
“I want you to know that as a person and Nigerian, I feel your pain and agony at this present time and my thoughts are with you”.
“This is a phase in our national development and we hope that sooner or later, the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria will find a lasting solution to ameliorate the people’s sufferings”.
“As we all know that we can’t achieve anything in crisis and unsettled society, it is our collective responsibility not to trade our peace for violence”.
“I urge you all to be calm even as we look ahead to vote new set of leaders in an election scheduled to hold in February and March this year “.
“Let us continue to go about our daily businesses and activities in peace and let us strive for a better community, society, state and Nigeria in general”
