The Association of Nigerian Authors, Ogun State Chapter, (OGUN – ANA), has joined other poets and writers worldwide on Monday, 21st March, 2022 to celebrate this year World Poetry Day.
The event, which was held at Simeon Adebo Library, Kuto, Abeokuta the Ogun State capital, witnessed various poetry recitation, poetry dramatization and spoken words from students, members and non-members of the Association.
In his remark, Dr. Sola Adetutu implored the audience, especially the students at the occasion, to prepare their minds to be inspired by various stage performance, charging them to keep honing their creative prowess.
He urged students and other creative writers to use the occasion to join the Association of Nigerian Authors, stressing that they have a lot to gain as members.
While delivering lecture on the theme of the 2022 World Poetry Day tagged, “Poetry and Society”, MSC Okolo who described Poetry as a literary genre that gives poets the opportunity to mirror
the society, addressing socio-economic, political, religious and security.
She stressed that poetry should be used as instrument to ensure peaceful, co-existence, unity
and development of Nigeria in regardless of colour, race, language and ethnics.
Also speaking, the Chairman of ANA – Ogun and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Theater Arts, Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, Dr. Chris Omotosho appreciated everyone that contributed towards to the academic gathering.
The event also witnessed presentation of gifts on behalf of the Association to participating schools, individuals and students who presented their works of arts at the epoch making event.
Prominent scholars and literary enthusiasts were present at the event.
