Ogun Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) says it will set machineries in motion to ensure improved revenue generation next fiscal year and has therefore proposed the sum of N135.4billion as revenue to to be generated to the coffers of the State Government next year.
The Consultant to the Governor on Revenue Generation, Kunle Adeosun disclosed this while defending the Agency’s 2020 Budget proposal before the members of the the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Olakunle Sobukanla at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to Adeosun, the revenue was expected to be generated through tax investigations, personal and road taxes, withholding tax and direct assessment as well as consumption tax amongst others.
While recalling that the agency generated over N35.9billion between January and October this year, Adeosun opined that the proposed revenue amount was realistic, as there were a lot of ongoing transformations to boost revenue generation in the State.
He added that N3.6billion had been earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N330million would go for capital expenditure in 2020, with an assurance that the agency would undertake a lot of enlightenment programmes.
Also, the State Ministry of Finance, Office of the Accountant- General, Debt Management Office, Ministry of Budget and Planning amongst others defended their budget estimates before the lawmakers.
