NYSC DG Tasks Corps Members on Unity, Development of Fatherland

Corps Members have been told that the entire nation is looking up to them for their expected roles in advancing the unity and development of Nigeria.

The National Youth Service Corps Director General, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim gave this charge at the low key Closing Ceremony of the 2021 Batch B Stream two Orientation Programme.

The Director General whose address was read by the NYSC Ogun State Coordinator,, Dr (Mrs) Belinda Ameze Faniyi at the parade ground of the Sagamu Orientation Camp enjoined the corps members to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience which they have imbibed during the Orientation Course.

He urged them to accept their postings to any location in good faith and perform their duties with diligence, adding that they are also expected to appreciate and respect the cultures of their host communities while adding value to the communities by undertaking personal and group Community Development Service Projects that will uplift the living standard of their communities.

The Director General encouraged the corps members to build on the skills acquired in camp by availing themselves of the opportunities for post camp training to help them creat self employment and wealth at the end of their service year.

General Shuaibu assured the corps members of their general welfare and security,.noting that Management is in constant liaison with security agencies and other stakeholders.

“I wish to reaffirm the commitment of Management to your security and general welfare. Accordingly, we are in constant liaison with security agencies and other stakeholders with the view of ensuring your safety as well as addressing other essential needs for a fulfilling service year” Gen Shuaibu said.

The NYSC helmsman while imploring corps members to shun drug abuse and trafficking , Cyber Crime, Advance-free-fraud and other vices warned against unauthorised journeys and night trips .
