NSCDC, Others To Hold Security Conference To Curb Criminal Activities In Ogun

As part of efforts to provide solutions to help tackle insecurity and other security challenges facing Ogun State. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in conjunction with Ogun State Government as well as other security agencies within the state will from 24th to 26th May, 2022 hold a security conference at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital

The Confab which is a mega security project will ensure an ideal environment where business opportunities thrives amongst investors and desire atmosphere for the ease of doing business.

The Commandant, Civil Defence College of Security Management, NSCDC, Dr. Racheal Awosusi stated this recently at a Gateway Secure Confab 22 Stakeholders’ Dinner ably attended by representative of the state government, State and National Security outfits, traditional leaders, heads of communities, CDAs, social and cultural groups, youths and trade unions among others.

The Confab according to Commandant Awosusi is tagged, “Gateway Secure Confab “22 with the theme: “Security; A Collective Responsibility”.

She pointed out that Confab will address the rising security challenges facing the country most especially Ogun State, as the state is not left out amongst states with insecurity challenges.

She said, “The Confab will provide platform for security agencies, experts, traditional leaders, security students, financial organizations among others to delibrate on the security issues affecting the state”.

“This security conference will create meeting point for security operatives, the private business community and the public to air their views on security challenges rocking the society”, she said.

On his part, Dare Oginni, the Team Lead, Gateway Secure Confab, who is from the Pumaheels Logistics, a consulting firm in charge of the summit, said “Gateway Secure Confab is a convergence of critical stakeholders on security matters in Ogun State to ensure strong relationships between security operatives and to foster a viable security interactions between private and public sectors.

Also speaking in the same vein, a retired Naval Commodore, Prof. Kunle Olawunmi urged Government at all levels to be proactive towards punishing crime offenders to check others from commiting crimes so as to reduce the high rate of insecurity facing the country.

Olawunmi who noted that over the years, Nigeria has experienced an increase terrorism rate in almost every region of the country.

He added that the Confab will help to check the growing insecurity and unrest caused by rebellious individuals across the country.

“As a way to curb the rising security challenges facing the country, the government at all levels should be proactive in their duty to punish any crime offenders to serve as lesson to those who are thinking of jeopardizing the country’s peace and security”.

“If there’s no will to punish crime offenders, insecurity will thrive and in the end jeopardize security of lives and properties”, Olawunmi added.

The Gateway Secure Confab 22 is expected to have His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, Former President of Nigeria as Keynote Speaker, while Rev. Ladi Thompson, Abdul – Hakeem Ajijola, Commander Soji Ganzallo, Prof. Kunle Olawunmi, Dr. (Mrs.) Ofodile Modesta Chinyere, Brig. Gen. Sani Kuka Sheika Usman (RTD), Col. Abayomi Dare (RTD) and Prof. Tajudeen Akanji as resource persons.
