The Director, Abuja Model Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, Prof. Nebath Tanglang, has disclosed that the university is known for delivering top-notch academic services to its students.

Tanglang said this while addressing market audience during the centre’s advocacy visit to the Dutse Alhaji traditional market on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

The advocacy team was welcomed by the Hakimin Dutse, Alhaji Abubakar Bako, and the management team of the market.

The director explained further that NOUN has a global reputation in the quality of its study materials and has positively contributed to the Open Education Resources (OER) more than many countries in the world.

He posited that due to what NOUN does it has become a leading Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution in Africa, providing functional, flexible, accessible and cost-effective education.

While explaining the mode of delivery, the director stated that NOUN leveraged on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in delivering an education tailored towards the globalized economy with exceptional academic programmes that meet specific needs of all sectors.

NOUN, according to him, has a robust support service system that is second to none in West African sub-region, explaining that admission into the numerous programmes of the university is currently ongoing and urged the audience to use this medium to send their children and wards to NOUN.

He noted that the interesting thing was that the student population of the centre is drawn from all over the FCT, Nasarawa, Niger, Kaduna and Kogi States.

On his part, the Hakimin Dutse, Alhaji Abubakar Bako, said he is always ready to give the centre his maximum support any time, anywhere, as he promised to go back to his people and tell them about NOUN.

While giving the vote of thanks, a deputy registrar at the centre, Mrs. Hawa Ben-Hirki, appreciated the presence of the Hakimin Dutse and the officials of the market.

Ben-Hirki said she was certain that the visit would bring a remarkable improvement both in the relationship with the community and the services NOUN renders to the people educationally.

After the event, the team, led by the director, proceeded to the market square to partake in the sanitation exercise as a way of giving back to the community as flyers and souvenirs were shared to the people.
