The Federal government of Nigeria has reversed its earlier broadcast of schools’ resumption, saying Nigeria will not participate in WAEC earlier announced to take place between August 5 and September 5, 2020.

Tropic Reporters earlier reported that Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education, had earlier announced that the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations would hold between August and September.

The examination has now been postponed indefinitely to check the spread of coronavirus.

Speaking to state house correspondents at the end of the virtual Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu said schools in Nigeria will not reopen any time soon until it is safe to do so because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said that final-year students preparing for the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) will not be allowed to return to school contrary to earlier announcement.
