The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced that the ongoing nationwide strike will persist until Tuesday’s meeting of its organs, despite the agreement signed with the Federal Government on Monday.

In a statement on Tuesday, the NLC clarified that the industrial action, which has grounded the nation’s economy, will continue until its organs review the resolutions reached at Monday’s meeting.

The Federal Government had expressed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to increasing the minimum wage offer from N60,000, with a tripartite committee convening daily to finalize an agreeable national minimum wage.

The organised labour agreed to consider the new offer and ensured no worker would face victimisation for participating in the strike.

The strike continues pending Tuesday’s review meeting, where the NLC’s organs will assess the agreement and determine the next steps.
