Some Nigerians have expressed appreciation for the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for improving the passport application and issuance process.

Feedback from passport seekers highlights their satisfaction with the efficiency of the Abeokuta passport office in Ogun State. Visitors, including those who traveled from neighboring states, commended the office for adhering to guidelines on passport procurement and renewal.

Mrs. Modupe Omoniyi, a passport applicant, praised the office for its swift processing, noting that she was able to schedule an appointment within a week of applying online. She mentioned, “I applied online last week and was scheduled for capture the following week. A friend from Lagos recommended this office, and I’m thrilled with how smooth the process was, contrary to the negative rumors.”

She suggested that implementing full biometric application processes could further enhance efficiency.

Mr. Damilare Adenuga, a government contractor, acknowledged the reduced processing times but urged for quicker passport collection after appointments. He commented, “This progress is encouraging, but I hope passport collection times will be cut down to less than two weeks after the appointment.” He also advised Nigerians to apply online to avoid passport racketeers, describing the online process as straightforward and user-friendly.

Mr. Tade Oniru, a businessman, praised the dedication of NIS staff, especially amidst ongoing protests. He recommended that the Federal Government open more passport offices nationwide to alleviate the pressure on existing centers.

Passport Controller Officer at the Abeokuta Passport Office, Mr. Sunday Olubiyi, reaffirmed NIS’s commitment to efficient passport production and encouraged applicants to provide accurate information to prevent delays.
