The Nigerian Army has launched a military investigation into allegations of administrative misconduct involving Brigadier General MA Sadiq, the Commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano.

The investigation was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.

According to the statement, General Sadiq has been relieved of his command to ensure a transparent and thorough inquiry.

“The Nigerian Army, as a self-regulatory institution, has zero tolerance for indiscipline and will not condone any misconduct that undermines its core values,” Nwachukwu emphasized, highlighting the Army’s dedication to maintaining discipline and accountability within its ranks.

The probe follows media reports accusing General Sadiq of misappropriating palliative supplies meant for soldiers and their families. It is alleged that he withheld essential palliatives, including rice, provided by the Defence Headquarters, and instead sold military assets meant for operational use, such as generator sets and vehicles designed for combat against terrorists and kidnappers.

Further accusations claim that General Sadiq misused official military property, including selling a MIKANO heavy-duty generator to scrap dealers. In response to these allegations, the Nigerian Army has appointed Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, former registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy, as the new Commander of the 3 Brigade.

Sources report that General Sadiq is currently being held at a military police facility in Abuja while the investigation is ongoing. The Army has reassured both internal and external stakeholders that the inquiry will be conducted with fairness and impartiality, adhering to all established protocols.
