ABEOKUTA – The Founder of Amadalah Africa Foundation (AMDAF) and Convener of Community Outreach and Women Empowerment Initiative, Alhaja Islammiyah Sadique Ayaba – Kadejo, has called for the elimination of violence against women and girls.

Ayaba – Kadejo gave the charge during a one hour walk for women against domestic violence and mental health in Abeokuta the Ogun State Capital today Thursday 15th August, 2019.

According to her, putting an end to violence against women and girls can turn out to be a reality with laws to protect and punish perpetrators as well as services and programmes women’s lives and comprehension prevention.

She said women’s right are the fundamental human rights enshrined into the 1999 constitution for every human being as many parts of the constitution should either be changed or amended to allow women exhibit right to fundamental human right like their male counterparts.

“Sometimes, women are often attacked by strangers but they are mostly hurt by people very close to them, such as husband or partner.

“The highest rate of domestic violence is caused by the superior right given to the male gender as against the female as men are prone to violate the constitutional rights of their women and partners.

“We created culture as a way of life and culture should not dominate on the women as any culture that allows domestic violence or do not give total freedom to gender balance should be abolished or changed,” she said.

Ayaba – Kadejo thereafter encouraged women who might be facing any form of domestic violence be it physical, domestic or emotional trauma to open up in spite of the intimidation or threat from the aggressors because keeping quite could cause more harm than good as violation against women and girls was violation of rights.
