The 21st Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience (21st CYNDAC) have called for calm and urged Nigerian youths to refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest.

In a statement on Tuesday, Coordinator Izon Ebi appealed to the people of the Niger Delta, South South, South East, and South West, as well as youths, women, and men across the country, to disregard the so-called “End Bad Governance” or “End Hunger” protests. The group acknowledged the current economic hardships but emphasized the importance of introspection, resilience, and restraint over protests that could be exploited.

Reports indicate that youths are organizing a nationwide protest from August 1 to 15 in response to rising living costs and economic difficulties.

Ebi’s statement, titled “A Call for Restraint,” expressed sympathy with Nigerians affected by the severe economic situation. The group highlighted that while the Federal Government’s recent economic measures, though painful, are aimed at long-term benefits. They noted past issues such as insecurity affecting farming and commodity prices, and commended efforts to reduce customs duties on essential goods and support for students and entrepreneurs.

The statement concluded by urging citizens to support the government’s efforts and avoid actions that could lead to chaos.
