The Nigeria Football Federation has denied the news earlier published by News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reportedly accusing NFF of renouncing the pledge made by the minister for youth and sports, Mr. Sunday Dare to the mother of late super eagles legend. Rashidi Yekini.
NFF in a tweet on its official Twitter handle today denied the report credited to News Agency of Nigeria.
The statement read, “The Nigeria Football Federation strongly denies a story by NAN that the GS, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi reportedly renounced a pledge made by the Federation to stipend on a monthly basis, the mothers of former Nigeria internationals, late Samuel Okwaraji and late Rashidi Yekini.
“We maintain fidelity with our pledge and though, sadly, we lost the mother of late Okwaraji the same month the pledge was made, we have concluded arrangements to deliver to the mother of late Yekini the payment for the next one year in advance.
“There is no way the NFF would have denied a pledge made in support and appreciation of the gesture of the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare, NFF concluded.
