Khadga Prasad Oli, the leader of Nepal’s largest communist party, has taken oath as the country’s Prime Minister for the fourth time.
The ceremony was held in Kathmandu, where Oli, 72, was sworn in alongside two deputy prime ministers and 19 ministers.
Oli’s Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) formed a coalition government with the Nepali Congress party after withdrawing support from the previous coalition led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday.
The new government is expected to expand to include members from coalition partner parties.
As Prime Minister, Oli will need to secure a vote of confidence in parliament within a month to continue in office.
However, this is likely a formality given the combined parliamentary strength of the two alliance parties.
