The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials to 800 households affected by flood and windstorm disasters in Ikara/Kubau local government areas of Kaduna State.
Imam Garki, NEMA’s North-West zonal coordinator, presented the items to Aliyu Abdullahi, representing Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency, for distribution to the affected victims.
The relief materials, approved by the federal government, aim to alleviate the hardships faced by communities in Pambegua and Zuntu, Kubau Local Government Area, which experienced severe flooding and windstorms in June ¹. The disasters affected approximately 4,800 persons and resulted in four fatalities.
NEMA’s chief information officer, Halima Sulaiman, conveyed condolences to the affected communities and urged beneficiaries to utilize the relief materials. The items include: Food Items, rice, maize, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, milk, and beverages, Non-Food Items: clothing for men, women, and children, towels, mosquito nets, plastic buckets, diapers, detergent, zinc nails, and roofing sheets
These materials are intended to provide temporary succor, not compensation for losses incurred.

Represented by Halima Sulaiman, the agency’s chief information officer, Mr Garki expressed condolences to the affected communities and urged the beneficiaries to utilise the items to alleviate their hardships.
He emphasised that the relief materials were intended to provide succour during these challenging times, not compensation for their losses.
