The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended 25 individuals suspected of drug trafficking in the Filin Idi area of Kano.
The command reported recovering over 10 kilograms of assorted illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol, “suck and die,” rubber solution, pregabaline, along with locally made weapons.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, Sadiq Maigatari, quoted the state Commander, Abubakar Ahmad, who described the arrests as “a bold move to combat drug trafficking and related crimes in the state.”
Ahmad emphasized that the Filin Idi area has long been associated with drug peddling and social vices such as phone snatching and thuggery.
“The NDLEA’s efforts to dismantle this network have yielded significant results, ensuring a safer environment for Kano residents,” the statement noted.
The command revealed that it is committed to eliminating drug networks in the state and will continue to conduct similar operations.
As part of a coordinated effort, the NDLEA also conducted a raid at the Danagundi construction site, leading to the arrest of six additional suspects.
“This coordinated operation demonstrates the command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes in the state,” the NDLEA statement read.
