The National Commission for Persons With Disabilities has stormed an N-Skills training centre over failure of a training consultant to provide sign language interpreter for Persons with Disabilities who are beneficiaries of the scheme.

The Commission received a complaint on its WhatsApp hotline from a Person with Disability who complained of not understanding the training being held at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja over non provision of a sign language interpreter.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Commission, through the New Media Unit and Accessibility Department, rapidly mobilized two sign language interpreters to inspect and query the consultant over non compliance with the Disability Act.

The team stayed at the training venue and started interpreting for the PWD until the consultant provided a sign language interpreter.

The complainant expressed delight over the rapid action made by the Commission.

The Commission also urged other Persons With Disabilities to embrace the culture of reporting such concerning issues.
