The Executive Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has admonished the 2019 Batch C stream 1 corps members to see the National Service as a call to higher responsibility and accountability.
Oyetola said this at the swearing in and official opening ceremony of the three weeks orientation exercise which held on the 7th of November, 2019 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede.
The Governor who was ably represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Lawal Azeez Olayemi advised the 2,350 corps members comprising of 1,100 males and 1,250 females to join in the development of the national economy. In his note, he said “Dear compatriots in service, join us to make our economy bigger and stronger by embracing skills acquisition and entrepreneurship”.
Governor Oyetola speaking further assured corps members of their security in the State. He stated “the government will continue to work towards providing adequate security and a conducive environment for you to serve your father land successfully”.
In his final note charged them to stay true to the oath they have sworn to. In his words” I want you to stay true to the oath you have sworn to and always be law abiding citizens”.
Meanwhile, the Osun state NYSC coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke in his address at the swearing in ceremony enjoined the corps members to take all the four phases of the service year seriously. He further admonished them to impart the people of their host community positively by contributing their quota to the development of the state.
Mr Ayodele in his statement encouraged the corps members to embrace Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programs with maximum interest as he said “I want you to take the SAED in camp and post camp skill training seriously as this is one of the initiatives of the scheme which is aimed at rewarding your selfless service through self development and empowerment “.
In the mean time, the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Hon. Lawal Azeez who was represented by the coordinating director Ministry of Youths and Sports, Dr Olatunbosun Awoyemi assured corps members of their welfare and security and optimum utilization of their potentials. He further admonished corps members to take their health seriously as the scheme has made provision for free health care services in the camp and during the service year.
Subsequently, the corps members were sworn in by taking the oath of allegiance which was administered by the Chief judge of the State of Osun, Hon. Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo.
