The National Assembly and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have signaled their commitment to a new partnership with Nigerian real estate firm Pelican Valley, the Nigerian Canada Business Network (NCBN), and other stakeholders to promote foreign investments into Nigeria.

This collaboration aims to support both government and private sector initiatives to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), showcasing Nigeria as a viable destination for trustworthy and productive business opportunities.

The partnership became evident during separate visits by key figures, including Ambassador Babatunde Adeyemo, CEO of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, and Dr. Olukunle Ibitoye, promoter of Kajola Resort in Canada, to meet with committee chairs in both the Senate and House of Representatives.

Also present were King Wale Adesanya, Chairman of NCBN, and Dr. Moji Davids, Group Managing Director of Xtrarge Farms & Resorts. These discussions, which took place in Abuja, aimed at reinforcing efforts to connect Nigerian entrepreneurs with the diaspora community.

These visits come on the heels of the recently concluded Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), hosted by NiDCOM at the Presidential Villa in early November and co-sponsored by Pelican Valley.

The summit, now in its seventh year, emphasized collaborative efforts to attract diaspora investment back into Nigeria, particularly in real estate and related sectors.

Ambassador Adeyemo, during discussions with his hosts, expressed Pelican Valley’s commitment to maintaining integrity and quality in real estate development.

He highlighted the company’s record of transparent and ethical practices in Ogun State and its readiness to leverage this track record in partnership with the National Assembly and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Adeyemo emphasized the importance of reshaping global perceptions of Nigeria by promoting the positive contributions of genuine and reliable Nigerian entrepreneurs.

“There are still many honest, dependable, and trustworthy Nigerians,” he stated, “who can forge profitable partnerships with our people in the diaspora.”

In response, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (OON), represented by Ambassador Akinremi Bolaji, acknowledged the need for such partnerships.

He commented, “The time has come for this collaboration. We are ready to work with Pelican Valley and the other members of this team to ensure Nigeria’s real estate sector aligns with our goals to enhance Nigeria’s image globally.”

Senator Victor Umeh, Chair of the Senate Committee on Diaspora, echoed these sentiments. He noted that the committee was eager to support credible Nigerian investors, stating that trustworthy local firms like Pelican Valley represent precisely what diaspora investors are looking for in their home country.
