The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a plea to the newly inaugurated National Economic Advisory Committee, including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Aliko Dangote, and others, to work diligently and promptly to put an end to the current economic hardship in the country.

The student body emphasized the critical nature of the committee’s success during these challenging times.

In a statement by its National Senate President, Elvis Ekundina, on Tuesday, NANS underscored the potential dire consequences for the nation if the committee fails in its responsibilities.

The committee, recently inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu, is tasked with finding urgent solutions to the prevailing economic challenges.

While congratulating Governor Abiodun for his appointment to the committee, NANS urged its members, including Tony Elumelu, Chairman of the United Bank for Africa, to commence their duties immediately and prioritize public welfare.

The statement from NANS expressed hope and expectations for the committee members, urging them to approach their roles with a deep sense of duty, accountability, and a commitment to the public interest.

It stressed the significance of the committee’s responsibility in shaping economic policies that impact the lives of every citizen.

NANS called for open and transparent dialogue, considering diverse needs and perspectives, while encouraging collaborative efforts to address the economic challenges facing the nation.

The student body emphasized that decisions made by the committee should genuinely reflect concern for the welfare and prosperity of the nation.

NANS however expressed trust that the newly appointed committee members would rise to the occasion, fulfilling their roles with integrity, expertise, and a genuine commitment to serving the public.
