It was a stand still for all Sport lovers on Sunday 28th July 2019 as Samson Oke, Charles Smith and Abiodun Oladimeji were all on target as N.I.S Reformation football club of Ijeja clinched the inaugural edition of the Abeokuta youth Football Championship at the expense of Eleven Captain FC of Adigbe after a 3-1 Victory at the Muda Lawal stadium, Asero, Ogun State.
Samson Oke (13) and Charles Smith (23) had put the Ijeja Warriors two goals ahead, only for Onyema Paschal to half the deficit in the 38th minute to give Eleven Captain some glimpse of hope.
Abiodun Oladimeji then put the game beyond the eventual losers with a 41st minute strike.
Earlier in the day, Comprehensive Academy of Irepodun beat Ajegunle Boys to a third place finish with a 1-0 Victory at the same venue.
A giant Trophy was presented to the eventual champions, while medals were also distributed.
Individual awards including the top scorer gong, most valuable player and best goalkeeper were also given.
In attendance were former chairman house committee on sports, Ogun State House Of Assembly, Hon. Allen Taylor, the President of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association Of Nigeria FIBAN, Comrade Desmond Nwachukwu, Chairman, sports writer Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde, his OGTV counterpart Bunmi Adigun and Secretary SWAN Ogun State, Mr Sanusi Lateef among others.
The Championship was put together by Breezing Rivers Entertainment, in conjunction with Sweet FM
