The family of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has expressed its disapproval of plans to hold a lavish anniversary event for the late singer.
In a statement released by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, they emphasized their preference to mourn Mohbad privately and avoid reopening old wounds.
The family’s concern stems from the possibility that some individuals and organizations might exploit Mohbad’s memory for commercial gain.
The statement read: “The Aloba family has learned that certain groups are considering marking the first anniversary of our beloved son and singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad). We urge these groups to halt their plans.
“It is known that various individuals and organizations have been preparing events to commemorate the late singer. We request that they seek proper authorization from the family before proceeding. The Aloba family does not want the memory of their esteemed son to be used for commercial purposes.”
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, and the circumstances surrounding his death continue to be a topic of discussion.
