ABEOKUTA – A Higher National Diploma (HND) II student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Aminat Olaleye, has been awarded for her act of honesty.
Aminat, in August, 2019 found a cash amount of N20,000 within the school premises in a wallet without any means identification to trace the owner and returned the money to the leadership of Students Union Government (SUG) of the institution.
The SUG executive after painstaking efforts located the owner of the money who claimed it was meant for his tuition fees and informed the school Rector, Dr. Samson Odedina of the development.
Speaking to our correspondent, Aminat, an accounting student explained that, she found the money right in a wallet without any means of identificatio and decided to return it to the student’s Union.
“I found the sum of N20,000 at MAPSED, without any means of identification, which I know is for someone’s school fees. Immediately, what struck into my heart was that, what situation would the owner of the money be and what if I was in that position. How would I feel losing my school fees?”
But on Monday, the Students Union Government honoured Aminat with an Award of Integrity for her exemplary behaviour.
Meanwhile, the Polytechnic Rector, Dr. Samson Odedina announced that, the school management would pay the student’s tuition fee for one academic session.
