A man, whose identity remains unknown, was tragically killed on Monday after being hit by a moving train in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

The unfortunate incident reportedly took place in the early hours of the day, drawing attention to yet another fatal accident involving the state’s railway system.

Confirming the development, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, revealed that the agency received a distress call regarding the incident at 8:28 a.m. on Monday. In response, LASEMA immediately dispatched its Eagle Response Team from the Cappa Base.

“Upon arrival at the scene at 9:02 a.m., our team discovered the lifeless body of an adult male lying on the railway track,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu said in a statement issued on Tuesday. “Further investigation confirmed that the deceased was struck by a moving train earlier in the day.”

The LASEMA team proceeded to recover and bag the body, which was handed over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) for transportation to the morgue.

This tragic occurrence follows a similar incident less than two weeks ago when a 50-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, was killed by a train near the Arena Shopping Mall in Oshodi, Lagos.
