Man, 44, Arraigns For Alleged Reckless driving In Lagos

A 44-year-old man, Peter Oribamise, was docked at a Magistrates’ Court in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, for allegedly driving recklessly, causing accident and damaging a tricycle.

The Police charged Oribamise on three counts bordering on conspiracy to wit felony and malicious damage.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Friday Ekundayo, informed the court that the defendant committed the offences between Oct. 30 and Dec. 19, 2023, at about 10.30 a.m. at Magbon Ilado town, in Ibeju-lekki, Lagos State.

Ekudayo said the defendant injured one Mr Lukman Yusuf while driving recklessly.

The prosecutor also added that the defendant damaged a motorcycle valued at N700,000 belonging to Yusuf.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened section 51(1) of the road traffic law of Lagos State, 2018.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olumide Fusika, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum and then adjourned the case until Feb. 1 for mention.
