The 2022 Batch A Stream 2 Prospective Corps Members deployed to Ogun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to Ogun for their Orientation Programme were on Wednesday advised to make good use of the social media.

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, said this during the swearing-in ceremony of the over 1,900 corps members at the Gateway International Stadium .

The DG who’s address was read by the NYSC Ogun State Coordinator, Dr Mrs Belinda Ameze Faniyi, charged corps members to avoid the spread of false news on social media.

“I implore you to sustain the high level of discipline and enthusiasm you have demonstrated so far, especially by remaining compliant with the Camp rules and regulations,” the DG said.

“You must continue to distance yourselves from cultism, drug abuse and other social vices. I also urge you to avoid using social media for spreading fake news, fueling hatred and other negative purposes, and instead deploy the same for the promotion of national unity and development.

“You are strongly advised to be security conscious at all times, and to report any suspicious characters or activities around
to the appropriate authorities.”

A high point of the event was the administration of NYSC Oath of Allegiance on the corps members by the representative of the Chief Judge of Ogun State. Hon. Justice Okunsokan.

The State Coordinator also presented letters of appointment to the theater corps camp directors and inaugurated the COVID-19 vanguard.
