In a major success for security forces in Kogi State, 53 electrical transformers intended for crucial electrification projects across the region were intercepted during a high-stakes operation.
The transformers, believed to be stolen from the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) facility, were being transported to Lagos when security agents thwarted the illegal endeavor at Obajana.
The criminals, escorting the pilfered transformers, were swiftly apprehended, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against organized crime in the state. The intercepted transformers are now securely held by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo commended the vigilant efforts of the security agents, acknowledging their commitment to duty.
He expressed satisfaction in the recovery of the stolen transformers, viewing it as a tangible sign of the state’s enhanced capabilities in combating criminal activities.
Through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo conveyed his delight at the positive outcomes resulting from the renewed administration efforts to tackle crime.
He emphasized that the arrested suspects have already provided valuable information, leading to further breakthroughs, including the capture of a fleeing gang member in Ilorin, Kwara State, and the identification of the alleged receiver of the transformers in Lagos State.
Governor Ododo reiterated his unwavering determination to eliminate crimes and criminality, reinforcing the commitment of the state to maintain law and order.
