Site analysis, design, costing and all other pre-construction ‎procedures have been completed towards the smooth commencement of Maiduguri-Bama highway construction, Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has said.

Zulum stated this while addressing a delegation of the world Bank, led by Mr Ayaz Perver, the bank’s task team leader and ‎the practice manager, social development for Africa, Mrs Senait Assefa who were in Maiduguri for midterm review of multisectoral crisis recovery projects, MCRP, being carried out through collaborative funding between the world bank, the Nigerian Government and Borno government.

The Governor said his administration required ‎the approval of the Bank to invite suitable contractors to commence the project, using funds already in the state’s coffers.

Zulum added that all pre-construction assessments have also been completed for commencement of Gongulon- Dosuman road, substantially in Jere local government area. He also said the state required the bank’s approval before contractors can be invited.

Borno State has exceeded target set by the world Bank in the execution of projects identified by the bank especially those which fall under the MCRP.

The MCRPs are part of interventions by the world bank in supporting the Nigerian Government towards improving livelihoods and critical infrastructures as part of responses to conflict situations. The bank, funded by countries including Nigeria, als supports developmental efforts in different parts of Nigeria, not limited to the northeast.‎
