Lockdown: So-Safe Arrests “Fake Amotekun” operatives in Ogun State

So–Safe Corps an Ogun State Government owned security outfit have arrested a gang of fake South West security operatives known as Operation Amotekun, under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission.(DAWN)

This was contained in a press release issued to journalists on Monday by So-safe corps, Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf in Abeokuta and obtained by Tropic Reporters correspondent.

So-Safe Director of Information said that the fake Amotekun operatives numbering thirteen were arrested at an illegal checkpoints mounted by them at Lafenwa and Itele Ota located at Ado Odo Ota Local Government. area of the State

Moruf Yusuf stressed that the arrested suspects disguised to be operating and monitoring the government lockdown directives on human and vehicular movements to curb the spread of Corona virus pandemic and thereby resorted into extorting from members of the public, before nemesis caught up with them.

Yusuf affirmed that the suspects were kitted with reflective jackets with Amotekun inscription, and also operating with two vehicles and three motorbikes as patrol equipment, and were apprehended following a tip-off

Moruf said, “‘The So-Safe Corps, Ogun State Owned security agency has recorded another great achievement as officers and men of the corps deployed to enforce the Covid-19 Stay at home lockdown directives of the Federal/ State Governments in Ado – Odo Ota Division at about 1616hrs on Monday 20th,April,2020 noticed a strange set of criminally minded ones who disguised as a lawful security outfit”

“The culprits who were thirteen (13) in number were apprehended claiming to be officers of Amotekun, Ogun State Command..During preliminary investigation the suspected fake officers claimed that their operation has a solid backing of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission”,

“The suspects who were kitted with reflective jackets with Amotekun inscription with two(2) vehicles and three(3) motorbikes were caught at the spot they mounted a check point and were extorting the public at Lafenwa, Itele Ota located at Ado Odo Ota Local Government.”

The Corps Director of Information however said that as at the time of filing this report that the suspects were handed over to the Police at Itele Division for further investigation and likely prosecution
