This is definitely not the best of time for members of staff of Life Radio, one of the new generation radio stations in the ancient city of Ibadan.

Confirmed report reaching us has it that the station’s management disengaged all members of staff with immediate effect via a WhatsApp message on the station’s official WhatsApp group on Thursday the 6th of January, 2022. The disengagement notice offered no explanation whatsoever as the reason for the landslide disengagement.

Primus Media reached out to one of the affected members of staff, who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity. The former staff explained that the disengagement may not be unconnected to the incessant technical issues the station has been facing lately, which has hampered their transmission. According to our source, the technical issues have rendered the station and its staff redundant for a while now, so they are of the opinion that may have informed the sudden disengagement.

Another source decried the sudden disengagement, describing it as unfair, especially as they are being owed like 3 months salary before the purported disengagement. The affected staff also claim they have it on good authority that the station is already making moves to engage a new set of staff to replace them immediately.

Life FM is owned by popular politician, Hon. Toye Arulogun, who is also an Ex-Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in the State, under the administration of Late Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi.

As at press time, the message sent to the management of the distressed station to get their reaction is yet to be replied.
