Landmark College, Ikorodu, has held its 12th Valedictory Service and Prize-giving Ceremony for the year 2021 set.
The event, which was held in the school hall on Saturday October 9, 2021, was attended by parents, guests and distinguished personalities.
The valedictory service began with an opening prayer led by one of the parents and was followed by a processional hymn by the school choir.
While the recitation from the Holy Qu’ran was done by a JS2 student, Abdulsalam Abubakar, a Christian student from the same class, Semilore Adebayo, took the Bible reading.
In his valedictory sermon, the Chief Imam of the Lagos State House of Assembly and former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef, advised the students to abstain from sins to achieve success in life.
In his words, “Success requires not only hard work, but also total abstinence from sins. As students, you should be mindful of three D’s: destination, direction and discipline.”
While referring to his academic achievements, the former commissioner stated that discipline was necessary for the students to take the right direction to their destinations.
Also, Pastor Bolaji Orenuga advised the students to cultivate good behaviour “wherever they find themselves”. He enjoined them to always remember God in everything they do.
In his address, the school Principal, Mr Sanni Jamiu Adebayo, admonished the students to remain good ambassadors of Landmark College.

“Everywhere you go, continue to build on the solid foundation laid by this college,” the principal said.

Encouraging the students to take the righteous path in life, the university don stated five stages of legacy building: identity and values; guiding fundamental principles; courage and risk-taking; genuine care to advance others; responsibility and accountability.
According to him, these stages will define the significance of quality living.
In his words, “Living a legacy of excellence is striving to show yourself approved in all things by God before men. Let you so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
He added, “It is sowing a seed in the immediate environment and impacting people’s life especially those coming behind us.”
In her goodwill message, a member of the Board of Governors, Mrs Margaret Olufunke Ademosu, enjoined the graduating students to remain focused, urging them to take the advice given them seriously.
