As part of activities to ensure up-to-date records of Pensioners, the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), has scheduled the commencement of the Year 2021 Online Pensioners’ Verification Exercise for Monday, November 15, 2021.

The exercise will give Pensioners, who were or may have been deleted from the payroll for non-appearance during the last verification exercise, an opportunity to re-enlist and have their arrears paid.

Speaking on the exercise, the Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, Mrs. Elizabeth Olabisi Ariyo, affirmed that the verification exercise is in tandem with the State’s Pensions Policy, which provides for annual auditing of Pensioners’ list for the purpose of updating payroll in the Old Pensions’ Scheme, adding that the exercise will also allow for deletion of names of pensioners who may have passed on during the course of the preceding year.

The Chairman explained that this year’s verification, just as the previous year, is being done virtually through designated WhatsApp numbers in compliance with the COVID-19 Safety Protocol of physical distancing, which subsists and is aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.

In her words: “I have no doubt that the Online Verification will be more convenient for our Pensioners, both at home and in diaspora, as they will be verified in the comfort of their homes”.

She stressed that the online verification will serve as an avenue for the sick or bed-ridden to participate in the exercise without the need to come physically to the venue.

Mrs. Ariyo informed that the exercise is expected to commence on Monday, November 15, 2021 and close on Friday, December 17, 2021, enjoining pensioners to make video calls only for verification using the following lines: 08096742362 and 09136559047.
