Lagos State Government Technical College, Agidingbi, has won this year’s keenly contested National Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientists (JETS) competition held at CMS Grammar School, Lagos.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Ms. Moronke Azeez, who spoke on the feat achieved, extolled the passion, commitment and hard work the students and their team put into the project to ensure victory at the National Theme Category.
According to the Executive Secretary, “The State technical education is going through a process of rebranding as goals have been set by the government to reform technical education, as part of its vision of increasing employment and making the State the human resource base of the country”.
“Technical Education in the State is going through some transformation which includes upgrading the quality of knowledge and up-skilling teachers and instructors towards ensuring that the quality of learning is relevant to the industry and the entrepreneurs who will hire the graduates of the colleges”, she posited.
Speaking further, Azeez explained that other priority areas to uplift the Colleges include rebranding of the five colleges, increasing student enrolment, developing partnerships, reviewing existing courses and introducing ICT-based skill areas and so on.
While thanking the State Government for its renewed commitment to improving technical education, the Principal of Government Technical College, Mr. Ololade Olugbemi, said the staff and students of the five Technical Colleges in the State have resolved to push for more academic and technical excellence to win more laurels, awards and medals, not only for the Colleges and LASTVEB, but for Lagos State Government in general.
